strange as it seems.
my family just celebrated my grandfather's birthday last week at allson hotel and this week it's my grandmother's turn at dragon gate (harbourfront centre). she's 85 today and so we booked this function room with four tables and we even had our own karaoke system! (we had something like this before but all i can remember is my uncles and aunties singing to their hearts content and instantly become very happy people!) this time our room had a rather spectacular view of the sea and sentosa merlion's head popping out of the trees were kind of funny and the kids were soo cute! they became overly delighted just looking at the cable cars going up and down. after which we had this super huge chocolate birthday cake with the word '寿’on it. sinful as it seems, i almost had two but luckily i didnt. i think im beginning to like those awesome, stomach-filling glorious ten course meals more and more!!
anyway my point is, my family is huge. everytime when it comes to birthday treats and reunions, the organiser will have a big big headache.
here is a rough picture why:
1) grandparents (2)
2) their sons (5)
3) their daughters (4)
4) son's wives (5)
5) daughter's husbands (4)
6) grandchildren-son's children (10)
7) grandchildren-daughter's children (9)
8) great grandchildren (4)
43 altogether! not inclusive of grandson's wives/gf and granddaughter's husbands/bf. and we took like half an hour to take a family photo together cos of the mass number of people.it's as good as a class photo. difference is that on top of height factor, we had to stand in order of generations and gender.
however, unfortunate thing is not everyone came for the lunch or else the picture would have been more than perfect after much fuss over the arrangement. reasons being: one had to return to camp to join the search for mas selamat (aww poor army boys, the other's studying overseas, and one other had something on.

You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song.
But first I need your hand, then forever can begin
